Sorry to say ladies, but we’re not getting any younger.
Of course, you probably need no reminders of this because, when you look in the mirror, you might have noticed signs of aging on your face already. From wrinkle lines to stretch marks, it might be that your once youthful-looking skin appears to be a thing of the past.
Now, while you can’t turn back time (let us know if you find a way), there are ways you can reverse the aging process.
#1: Start to take better care of your skin
Certain habits are only going to age your skin faster, such as eating sugary foods, smoking, drinking an excess of alcohol, and spending too long under the sun. While these habits are problematic in all kinds of ways anyway, the sooner you cut them out of your life, the increased opportunities your skin will have to heal itself of any damage. For more advice on this, check out one of our previous articles for further tips on how to protect your skin.
#2: Try microneedling
If you don’t have a fear of needles, this is one way to recapture your skin’s glowing texture. Also known as collagen induction therapy, this is a procedure that uses tiny, sterile needles to treat such aging conditions as loose skin, wrinkling, acne scarring, and pigment issues. The process of micro needling generates new skin tissue and increases your collagen levels, and eventually, give you that smoother and firmer skin that was familiar to you from your youth. Now, you could see a beauty therapist or a surgeon for the procedure, but that could be quite costly. Alternatively, you could buy a microneedling kit on Amazon for less than $20 and treat your skin yourself for a fraction of the cost.
#3: Try home remedies
There are all kinds of skincare products on the market that guarantee you younger-looking skin, but you could save yourself some money by using some of the items you probably have in your pantry at home. Honey, turmeric, oatmeal, coconut oil, and yogurt are just a few of the food types that contain the ingredients needed to soften, moisturize, and exfoliate your skin. Here are some genius home remedies to get you started, but there are plenty more ideas online if you need further inspiration.
#4: Hydrate yourself
Your skin will start to age faster if it’s always dehydrated, so be sure to hydrate yourself on a regular basis. Experts suggest 8-10 glasses of water a day, although you can mix it up a little with fruit juices, coconut water, and pieces of fresh fruit as well. Always carry something around with you, and especially on those days when you’re likely to sweat more, such as on hot days or when you’re exercising, be sure to top yourself up with fluids to retain a fabulous looking skin.
You’re not getting any younger, but that doesn’t mean your looks have to fade. Use our suggestions, research other ideas online, and share your tips with us too for the benefit of our readers.
