For moms, the end of summer isn’t just about fall and the holidays looming on the horizon. There’s back to school shopping to worry about, parent/teacher conferences, planning snacks and lunches, and getting the little ones back on a school schedule after a long summer of fun and staying up later than usual.
In the middle of all of this, it’s easy for moms to forget about and neglect their own health and fitness. After all, who has time for getting in shape between carpools and bathtime? The thing is that the fall is a time when you really need to try to stay in shape because the days are shorter and oftentimes it’s just too cold to get out and about. Below, you can find a few convenient ways that you can stay in shape this upcoming fall, even as a busy mom.
Join a Gym
Somewhere between dropping the kids off at school and picking them up in the afternoons, you can head to the gym, if you have a membership. There are plenty of local gym memberships out there to choose from, and most of them will give you 24/7 access via a key card. Go ahead and pick up your membership, because you are more likely to go workout if you have already paid because you won’t want to waste the money you’re spending.
Get Active with the Kids
Family fitness is a huge thing today, so why not take advantage of it throughout the fall and winter months? Kids have a ball when they are added to your exercise routine. Whether it’s football in the backyard or letting them help you work out in the exercise room, getting active with the kids is not only fun but gives you a bit of time together as well. If you have little ones that aren’t capable of exercising with you yet, put them in a jogging stroller and head out on the road. Where there is a will, there is a way when it comes to getting the exercise you need.
Stay Hydrated
Many moms don’t realize how important it is to stay hydrated in the fall and winter months. It’s not just in the summer months that you can get dehydrated and fall sick. It’s still important to stay hydrated as summer turns into fall and fall creeps into winter. Make sure that you and the kids have water around at all times, especially if you are exercising together.
Get Involved in Fall and Winter Sports
There is plenty to do in the fall and winter of the year. Of course, it’s not as easy as the sports of summer are, but there is plenty to do to help a busy mom stay in shape. From ice skating with the little ones to going skiing, getting active in sports in the fall and winter of the year can help you stay in shape until the spring flowers bloom and you can get back to your regular routine.
Fall Cleaning Projects
While not all that fun, cleaning is the perfect way to stay in shape in the fall of the year. From cleaning out closets to cleaning out the garage, and from raking up the falling leaves to putting away things for the winter ahead, there’s quite a bit that can be done to keep in shape with cleaning projects in the fall.
These are just a few of the top ways for busy moms to stay in shape in the fall of the year. Remember, add the kids to your exercise routine and you can stay in shape together and have fun at the same time.
