As parents, we know that when we travel with our kids, nothing must go wrong. Planning could difficult and nothing must be forgotten. This is why it is very important to have a checklist to follow through when you pack. Also, you should start creating the list days before you begin to pack. This way, you ensure that you don’t miss anything.

When creating your checklist, you should focus on getting the essential items in there first. These are the things that are NECESSARY for you to take care of your child.  Any other stuff are luxury items that should be given second priority. Determining what is essential or not can be quite tricky. This is because kids are different and items that should be used to take care of them could differ.

However, this article would be giving you 7 of the most basic stuff that you should have when you are traveling with your toddlers

Toddler Carrier

This is important for any type of trip. With a toddler carrier, you have a safe and comfortable way to transport your kids when you are mobile. It is important however to use a toddler carrier that your kid is comfortable with. For instance, I bought a new backpack carrier for my toddler during a trip. I had to ditch the carrier because he preferred the stroller he always used at home and threw a tantrum anytime I tried to use the backpack carrier on him.

First Aid Supply Bag

Accidents can happen anywhere and anytime. This is why it is very important to always be prepared. You should pack a small first aid bag on your next trip with the kids. The bag should have pain relievers, a thermometer and supplies for treating small injuries.  All of this shouldn’t take up much space as they can fit in a small bag.

Blankets

This is important for comfort and warmth, particularly during airplane travel. Packing the blanket they use at home is great. It will provide a sleeping environment that the kids are familiar with. This way, they are able to sleep better and more comfortably during trips.

Diapers, Wipes and Diaper bags

This is a no brainer except if your toddler is potty trained. Always pack more diapers than you know you will need. You do not want to find yourself in a messy situation in an unfamiliar place

Sippy Cups

To keep your kids properly hydrated, pack their favorite sippy cups. It is important that they stay hydrated during the trip and after you reach the destination.

However, there is a looming concern about how clean the water you are giving your kids is. This is why I suggest that you pack a water filter pitcher that meets the certain NSF certifications. Toiletries

Another no brainer. The essential toiletries you should pack include toothpaste, toothbrushes, bathing soap, moisturizers, and hand sanitizers. To make things more fun, you can pack all your kids toiletries in a cute little bag.

Toys and Books

To keep the kids from being bored during the trip, pack some of their favorite road trip toys to play with while in a car seat. I am not saying that you should clear out the whole shelf. However, you should take only their favorites. Books are also a perfect way to keep your kids busy during trips. You may also want to read them a bedtime story before they sleep when you reach your destination. So, packing books is not a bad idea.
