Being Grown With Paula’s Choice Skincare

Paula’s Choice discount code below!

As I grow older I’m starting to value opportunities to say yes to myself. I’ve never been one to have an elaborate beauty routine, but I’m starting to get more serious about caring for my skin. Afterall, I’m no longer a teenager so I need to make more of an effort to keep this skin supple for as long as possible. I recently teamed up with Pretty In My Pocket as a Power Primper. The PRIMP app is amazing and down right addicting, btw. It takes a lot for me to download and talk about new apps, but this one is brilliant. I’ll be sharing an inside look at the app in another post so I don’t lose y’all, haha. Oh, look at squirrel!

So as a Power Primper, I had the opportunity to get my grown lady on with a suite of Paula’s Choice skincare products. I had my very own skin consultation with an expert from Paula’s Choice. I described my skin as combination (although it’s more on the dry side lately), sensitive, and lightly blemished (depending on hormones) and she promptly recommended the following products for me:

paulaschoice2

Hydralight One Step Face Cleanser ($20.00)
Hydralight Healthy Skin Refreshing Toner ($17.00)
Hydralight Shine-Free Mineral SPF ($26.00)
Hydralight Moisture-Infusing Lotion ($26.00)

The Hydralight line was recommended since I have sensitive skin. So far the system has been working for me, giving my skin a fresh, clean feel. I do think I could use a different moisturizer maybe from the Skin Recovery line. My usually oily t-zone has been behaving and so I could actually use some extra moisture.

Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion ($24.00)
Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid ($26.00)
Clear Daily Skin Treatment with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide ($17.00)

For breakouts, I was recommended the Skin Perfecting 1% BHA lotion and 2% liquid. I was told to start off with the 1% BHA lotion and try the 2% BHA liquid if I needed. I am super cautious when it comes to acne products since they tend to dry out my skin, so I don’t use the acne products every day and I only use the 2% around my neck.

Resist Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Serum ($34.00)

I mentioned that I have some darkening and puffiness around the eyes, so my consultant also recommended a serum from the Resist line. This I use under and around my eyes as well as in my smile lines. As I write this post, I am a good four hours past my bedtime, so I obviously need to make sure I’m keeping a good sleep schedule and drinking enough water in addition to using these products.

Bonus: Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette ($40.00)
Sheer Cream Lipstick SPF 15 (Nude Illusion) ($15.00)

In addition to the skincare products, I was sent the Nude Mattes Eyeshadow palette and my choice of lipstick. I’ll be sharing how I wear these in another post. I’m going to attempt a smokey eye with the palette. I love the Nude lipstick that I chose. It adds just a tiny pop of pink to my natural lip color. It’s perfect for everyday wear.

I am finally getting the hang of following a skincare system. When my products arrived, I was overwhelmed to say the least. And for a number of reasons. I have to use all of these products? In what order? Um, this twice a day and this once a day and I have kids and get tired and impatient *wallslide*. I eventually figured out a regimen that works for me with the help of the instructions and stickers provided. But then, I ran into another dilemma…

Do you now how hard it is for a terribly nearsighted person to follow a skincare system when not wearing contacts or glasses? Braille anyone? LOL! I keep all of my Paula products in a basket so I have to remember to set them all out (in our tiny bathroom) before getting started. I’m so used to grabbing a cleanser and moisturizer which differ significantly in color and size. It’s all good, though. I’ve gotten things memorized and now I’m feeling all grown and stuff with my fancy beauty products from Paula’s Choice.

Paula’s Choice is the real deal. Their products are made from domestically-sourced ingredients and are free of added fragrance, dyes or ingredients that would harm the health of skin. You can !
