Spring will be here before we know it and I’ll soon find myself shopping for baby girl clothes. What I love about Spring and Summer is the simplicity that comes with dressing the kids when they’re little, especially as babies. During the warmer months, my babies usually hang out in onesies and inexpensive sets. Emphasis on inexpensive.
Having a little girl can do some damage to the pocketbook if you’re not careful. There are a lot of little extras that come with having a little girl like tights, diaper panties, and hair accessories so I’ve had to shop smart. I can count on Walmart for inexpensive girly fashion that I can accessorize and dress up with classic items we have on hand.
Take the Child of Mine Sets by Carter’s for example. I love those little things! The spring collection is so adorable and at $7.94, we can afford them all. I styled this kitty set, option “Pink 2” on the product page, with a dainty head band that my friend, Drea, gifted Akilah and a pair of mocs. I’m shopping around for a light denim jacket, preferably second-hand, that she can wear on cool Spring days. Crossing my fingers for a moto jacket, also by Carter’s.
We can’t get enough of Child of Mine by Carter’s. I will definitely be snatching up a few more sets, probably in smaller sizes. Akilah is 5 months old, wearing a size 3-6 months. The pants are a little baggy on her lean legs and I would like for them to fit more like leggings. Underneath the animal print are a set of long legs with a bit of fluff and tiny rolls.
Shopping for her pants is a challenge, but I think if we size down, she’ll have a perfect fit. And in the event that they are a tad short, she’ll still be a cutie patootie giving us a little ankle action.

Your baby is adorable! I have a bit of baby fever right now since my youngest is now 11. When she was this age I loved the Carter’s line. It is good to know they continue to create beautiful clothing.
View CommentYour little on is adorable, love her outfit. My daughter is only 4 but my gosh, she is bossy about what she wants to wear. Having a daughter certainly has given my pockets a run for their money.
