Fighting Hunger This Holiday Season With Walmart

Food Drive Donations

I’ve never experienced what it feels like to go hungry, but there were a few times where my mom and I had to take advantage of the local pantry when I was a child. We were fortunate enough to have this pantry where we could re-up on food that we needed. That wouldn’t have been possible without community donations. Since I was so lucky to have that support when needed, I feel it’s only right for me to pay it forward whenever possible.

Walmart gave me the wonderful opportunity to donate food to my community. They provided me with a $50 gift card to shop for non-perishable food items and then, donate to their in-store food drive. For $53, I was able to get quite a bit of food! In the video, you’ll see that I was able to get canned greens, tuna, chicken, vegetables, yams, boxed stuffing, pasta mixes, dry beans, rice, packed fruits, and peanut butter. I also added some things from our pantry that we weren’t using (pictured in tote bag).

Since we were on our way to visit our family for Thanksgiving, we decided to donate the food to a Walmart on the way. While this Walmart (#1618) wasn’t doing a drive, they do regularly donate to local pantries. The manager gladly accepted the donations and put them aside to be picked up. I wish I could have gotten a video or picture, but I would have needed to get approval beforehand.

There’s still time to help fight hunger in your community. Visit to learn how you can help!

I am a part of the Walmart Moms program. Walmart has compensated me for dedicating time for this shopping experience and sharing it with you. Participation is voluntary. As always, all opinions are my own.

I have been donating food to Chardie's high school through a service project they have been doing to serve our community. I have also seen at my local Walmart that they have big boxes for donations in the front of the store. I always give food because I have known in the past what it is like to not have. I am a regular supporter of my local food bank (Harvest Hope). Just a little from everyone who can help is a HUGE help for those in need!
