In the two years that we have lived in our home, I have resisted the temptation to paint. Oh, how these white walls continue to taunt me. See, I painted a few rooms in two of our previous places and both times that we moved, Greg was stuck doing most of the repainting. Those experiences were so traumatic that I promised him that I would not paint until we became homeowners. Well, it’s kind of hard to live up to that promise with the awesomeness that is Pinterest, a desire to cozy up our home for the cooler seasons (because I get moody in the Winter), and brands like Glidden offering free paint. I lost the battle y’all. And that promise turned into, “I promise to repaint every wall as long as I’m not miserably pregnant or wearing a newborn”. Although Greg was not too thrilled with me getting my Color Splash on, he agrees that I did it up ;).
Since I am tackling paint projects from smallest to biggest, I decided to start with our upstairs bathroom. Next project will be the downstairs bath, and three of Jayden’s walls! So anyway, I wanted to choose a gender neutral color for the upstairs bath; a color that would go great with most decor and shower curtains. Eyes, dilated and all, I chose Pebble Grey. I was a little nervous about my choice, but I was so pleased after applying the first coat. I almost didn’t need to apply a second. So for only $16, I got my paint and my primer… oh, and I only used 1/2 of the gallon! The other half will go towards DIY burlap curtains for our bedroom.
I couldn’t help but to throw in some extras. We originally had a towel bar above the toilet. I removed it, bought another one, and placed it on the other wall. The rug and toilet seat cover are from Walmart’s Canopy brand; the towels and white cabinet are Mainstays. The shower curtain is from Rock Candy Life (chlorine and PVC-free!), gifted by Drea :). While I’m on the topic of eco-friendliness, Glidden paints contain no VOCS and the smell of their paints are not overbearing. Oh, and ignore the Glade. One of these days, I’ll make my own spray. I know it’s simple.
No before photos? I thought about it, but I didn’t bother. I was too caught up in the moment while painting! Ok, I didn’t feel like cleaning up until after the paint was dry. It was after midnight when I started. The second coat and touch-ups went on later that morning. Why is the Frog Pod up so high? Because the suction cups only last a few months before the toys come crashing down. So I decided to mount it with screws. What are those things holding the toothbrushes? Cell phone cups from IKEA (impulse buy). I’m loving our unique little bathroom. I can’t believe how much of a difference a can of paint made. And for some reason, it seems like we have more room in the shower. Hmmm. Illusion?

I love it!! It looks fantastic! Now I seriously want to go buy one of those over the toilet storage things for the kids bathroom! I'm having serious storage problems in there. I don't want to paint though, haha!

Jessi, thanks so much! Over the toilet thingies are lifesavers! We've used them in all of our places! You can also use an over the door shoe rack for toiletries (we do that too) :).
