And the winner is… Rachel Crisman (meeyeehere)! Congrats!
On Thanksgiving, it’s great taking home leftovers when we visit with family, but in our house, there’s no way those leftovers would last for as long as we’d like them to. So, I always do my own cooking, making a few extra dishes we really enjoy. With the help of my new Better Homes and Gardens Stainless Steel Cookware Set, I did my Thanksgiving cooking last Sunday in perfect housewife style and froze it all up for when we returned home from visiting with family.
I’ve never cooked with stainless steel cookware before and I heard there was somewhat of a learning curve to avoid sticking. These babies conduct such good heat, allowing me to cook at much lower temperatures. When I took my new cookware out of the box, I was shocked at the weight of each pot and pan. They are so thick and durable!
I love that I can put my stainless steel cookware in the oven up to 350 degrees! Since my pie pans were enroute, I baked my pumpkin pies and yam casserole in sauce pans. They came out wonderfully!
I love the glass lids on this set. They have steel handles that appear to be very durable. I’ve had a few handles loosen and come off the lids of previous cookware I’ve used. I don’t think I’ll be having that problem with these. They clean up well, too. I like to handwash them right after using to preserve their quality. They are dishwasher safe too, but I haven’t put them in yet.
I absolutely love the versatility of this cookware set. This is truly a professional set at a great price ($149 exclusively at Walmart)! One of my goals has been not only to cook more, but to cook more fulfilling and new dishes. This cookware set is a huge motivator for me to do so! Better Homes and Gardens have really outdone themselves!
How would you like to win a new set of cookware? The stainless steel set isn’t available, but I have something just as good! See deets below!
For a chance to win a 13-Piece BHG Hard-Anodized Cookware Set, tell me what you’d cook on this set if you won!
[EDIT] As a bonus, I’m throwing in an 8″ Chicago Cutlery Insignia Chef Knife with protective casing! It’s the only knife I used during my Thanksgiving cooking since it’s so sharp! It really gets the job done!

View CommentThanksgiving dinner this year was hosted by my son and daughter-in-law. I was helping her with the cooking and they only had “2” pots. We had to wash and rewash the “2” pots in order to make the side dishes. They have been married for 3 years, have 2 babies and “2” pots. My daughter-in-law is not materialistic and has never mentioned that she only has “2” pots. My son is obviously oblivious of this……becasue she has become such an excellent cook. She is always trying new receipes and I would love to present her with the BHG cookware set for Christmas. I have been looking on line for a set that I could afford to buy, but the good ones are very expensive. Recently, while at Walmart, I decided to see what cookware they were offering and was amazed at the quality of the BHG cookware set and at such a reasonable price. My own daughter has a very expensive set and the BHG cookware set is totally comparable. I know that my daughter-in-law will love to have this set.

View CommentI’m always looking for cookware that goes from the stovetop to the oven. One of my favorite dishes is paella which starts on the stovetop and finishes in the oven. My basic Italian bread is mixed in a small stock pot and baked in the same pot. Its so easy and deliciously unfussy. Tartiflette can be baked in the same pan that fries the bacon. The BHG collection will look marvelous hanging from my new pot rack.
