Looking for a fun craft to do with the littles? How about making Cinnamon Clove Ornaments?! I planned on making these last year and it totally slipped my mind. This year, they were at the top of my list and I am pleased to have knocked them out. They are super easy to make and although the ingredients involved are a weird combo, the outcome is a wonderful resemblance to gingerbread. They smell divine! If you are having a holiday party, these ornaments make for a great take-home favor activity! You can hang these on your tree or use as gift tags!
Materials
Find all of these items at Walmart.
3/4 cups applesauce
1/2 cup cinnamon
2 tablespoons ground cloves
Cookie cutters
Drinking straw
Twine
Instructions
In a medium sized bowl, mix cinnamon, cloves, and applesauce. Work the mixture with your hands to resemble a dough.
Roll the “dough” between 2 pieces of plastic wrap. Dough should be about 1/4 inch thick. Thicker dough is easier to work with. I had to learn the hard way. Dough that’s too thin will tear. Cut dough using cookie cutters and use the straw to poke holes for the twine.
Carefully place the cutouts on a baking pan. Bake them for 2 hours on 200 F. Optional: You can flip them to make sure they lay completely flat. Let them completely dry and settle for 1-2 days. Thread with twine and enjoy!
Do not eat! 🙂
