Holiday Giving: Toys For Youth

On a few occasions, I received toys that had been donated and had it not been for the donations, I wouldn’t have had much for on some Christmases. Donating to Toys For Tots is near and dear to me for obvious reasons. So each holiday season we give toys to children in need. This year, life happened and I started shopping later than usual. Before shopping, I confirmed with my coordinator that I still had time and he’d schedule a pickup. Walmart was generous enough to give me $100 to help people in need before the holiday. So regardless of the given time crunch, I really wanted to be able to help someone.

I headed to my local Walmart store and picked up items that had been requested for the older crowd. I picked up some inexpensive board games, and a few craft kits for $105. My donation also included some other items that I had received samples of; Zombie craft kit, Stepping Stones, Doodle Clock, and Messenger Bag.

Eager to get the items donated, I contacted my Toys For Tots coordinator and my multiple attempts went unanswered. Disappointed and in a mini panic, I took to Facebook to see where I could donate only a few days before the holiday and my lovely friend Toni saved the day! She knew of a gracious family and youth club who would really appreciate the items.

Both were so appreciative and I’m so happy that I could help. In my opinion, this beat dropping them off at a random location. I loved knowing my donation went to such a deserving and appreciative family and organization.
