Homemade Bath Paint

Part of fostering a great childhood is allowing messes. Some my life’s most memorable moments involved getting messy whether allowed or mischievously behind my mother’s back, haha. One way we allow mess without stress is by letting Jayden paint in the tub. It’s so much fun for him and the cleanup is a breeze.

I love breaking out the paints and turning on the radio. Doing so usually guarantees that he stays in the tub a while. There are times when he is gung-ho about bath time, soaking until his fingers and toes wrinkle like raisins and other times, he only wants to dip. Offering him something that sparks his creativity keeps him in much longer, which defintely comes in handy on hair days when I co-poo (wash with conditioner only) his hair.

By the time he’s ready to get out, it’s time to rinse his hair and dry off, followed by putting on our favorite hair and body moisturizers – and pjs of course!

You may be wondering what kind of paint Jayden uses in the tub. It’s a homemade bath paint that I make using Baby Magic body wash. I was actually approached by Baby Magic to join them as a Magical Madness Mom. Baby Magic is a brand that we respect as their washes and lotions are paraben-free and gentle on Jayden’s sensitive skin. As part of my partnership with Baby Magic, I thought I’d share with you, a super easy way to create bath paints using their gentle body wash and simple ingredients from the pantry!

1 Cup Tear-Free Body Wash
3 Tablespoons Cornstarch OR Arrowroot
Food Coloring

Combine 1 cup body wash with 3 tablespoons cornstarch (or arrowroot) and mix well. Add more for a thicker consistency.

Separate mixture into separate small containers. Rubbermaid’s 1/2-cup easy lid containers are perfect.

Add a few drops of food coloring to each container and mix well.

I think I’ll try this soon with my almost-4-year-old. She loves to paint and blows through bath paints like there’s no tomorrow. I think I’ll use some plastic baby food containers I saved to put our paints in. We have a 1-year-old also and I think she might enjoy these as well to fingerpaint with! Thanks for sharing!

I’m usually not big on DIY projects, but this looks pretty simple. My daughter loves bath time. I’m sure with this recipe for homemade paint, she’ll tune into a prune & refuse to get out of the tub!

Haha! I can imagine how long it took to get him cleaned up. Hopefully no one had to use the bathroom!

My oldest has done that before. He was just a few months. We took him out his seat and he was moist and smelled like poo all over. We discovered he had pooped up to his neck! Luckily, we were able to wash him up at my mom’s and we had a change of clothes.

When my son was a year old my mother wanted to take me out to dinner for my birthday. My son ended up vomiting all over me and the other diners asked to receive their meals for free! We asked for to-go containers and hightailed it outta there.

Wow, some nerve of the other diners… as if the restaurant owed them something because your son got sick. Poor thing. I would have skedaddled too after that. What an awesome birthday that must have been, lol!

Awesome, awesome, awesome! You’re gonna have a lot of parents running out to buy Baby Magic and the other ingredients. Thanks for sharing your recipe. And that photo of his foot dangling is so darn cute!

Now for the messy moment: When my little NIa was maybe a year old, I put her in her playpen while I was cleaning. I left the room for maybe 5 minutes, came back and she had not only pooped the biggest load I’d ever seen from her, but she had also taken off the diaper and decided to play with it. There was poop all over the playpen, all over her body AND in her hair. And surprisingly, all I could do was laugh!

I have tons of messy moments. My oldest pooped up his back while sitting in his bouncy chair. That was gross. My twins have both pooped in the tub right after the other. And my dear precious middle daughter puked up milk in the middle of the night, and some mommy instinct had me going in to check on her and walking in to the most atrocious smell known to mankind. I should just get hugs on GP. LOL!

Jayden pooped up to his NECK in his car seat. Luckily we had arrived at my mother’s house where we bathed him immediately, lol! Jaxon just had a blowout in his swing today… went all up his back, side, and belly. O_O
