How To Enhance Your Holiday Decor Using Various Accents

While we have an abundance of holiday decor, each year, I like to pick up small items to enhance our spaces, adding to the warmth that has already been created. Since this is our first year at our new home, I’ve had an excuse to grab a few things to accommodate our new layout. Walmart’s holiday decor offering made that easy with their affordable selection of lights and trimmings. I love browsing their Holiday Time line of individual ornaments. Each ornament is under $3, making them great for adding to the family ornament collection.

Each year, I find a few new pretties for our tree. I usually gravitate towards rustic elements since I’m not forced into a set color scheme. I’m a sucker for bronze, bells, deer, and wooden ornaments. On my recent shopping trip to Walmart I grabbed three of my favorite rustic ornaments (sled, snowflake, and acorn bell) and to switch things up, I grabbed three more from the other themed sections. I couldn’t pass up the white deer (hello, trends!) and I thought the blue ornament would complement the other blue ornaments on the top of our tree. Jaxon picked out the cupcake. I also became obsessed with the miniature plush gift bags. I couldn’t resist the one with the mustache. I rationalized with myself by saying that the bag was for Greg’s love coupons. Reasonable, right? *giggle*

I also picked up some mesh ribbon and a pack of led lights to fill in some gaps and make up for unlit lights. I loved using the ribbon last year, so I added an additional pack to for better coverage.

For our wreath, I picked up some battery powered lights to spruce it up a bit. I love that the lights can be programmed to turn on at night and shut off within six hours. They also have the ability to blink or fade. They are indoor lights and it’s recommended that the battery pack doesn’t get wet. I am a rebel so I wrapped the packs in duct tape and will trust that both our awning and duct tape combo will suffice. I simply can’t get enough of this wreath. Me thinks it needs a T, though. 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed these simple and inexpensive ways to add additional holiday cheer to your home. How do you decorate for the holidays? Do you find yourself picking up new holiday accents each year?
