Fort building is what childhood memories are made of. Thanks to Pop Secret for sponsoring today’s story! #PopSecretForts
Keeping the boys entertained this winter has become a challenge since we can’t comfortably spend hours outdoors exploring. I am totally serving major side eye from the Midwest to my friends in the south. While we can’t cuddle up in tents on the beach we can create an indoor experience. Who remembers building forts as a child? Some of my fondest childhood memories were those of fort constructing and cozy-ing with friends. We would use my bunked as a frame, draping blankets around the perimeter, leaving an opening big enough to view the tv. Snacks were the perfect accompaniment to our linen camp.

Last night, we let the boys create a fort in their room. Jayden has a loft bed, so it made for the perfect frame. We hung up blankets and tucked them into crevices.

The boys brought in a few smaller blankets, pillows, and some stuffed animals and of course the Kindle to enjoy a few episodes of their favorite shows.

Jax completed their pad with his beloved lantern and I brought in some popcorn (c/o Pop Secret) for them to munch on.

They stayed in their hideaway for hours, giving me some much needed time to do some work. When we went to check in on them, we discovered that Jax had gotten so cozy that he’d fallen asleep! I’d call our Monday night fort building a success!

Do you have memories of building forts as a child? How often do your children build them?
