Someone in the Tatum household’s been holding out…
“One day, she’s going to get up and start walking!” is what they said. And I took it for the normal baby banter that ensues when talking growth and development. Because how? What baby just gets up and starts walking without doing the one-step, two-step stumble, first?
Well, apparently my baby.
On February 26th, Miss Honey took her first strides by foot. At 18 months. Three months after big brother Jayden and six months after big brother Juicy Jax.
So, I’m in the bedroom tidying up and I hear Juicy shout from the boys’ room, “Kilah’s walking all by herself!”
I step out into the hall and here comes my little tiny woman strutting around like it’s nooothiiiing, daaarliiing. Like she had this one hiding in her baby bag of tricks for a good month.
This is incredible because there was some concern about her motor skills and talks of having someone come in to work with her. BUT she did it all on her own and we now have one less thing to worry about. Not that WE were worried per se. It’s just one thing we no longer have to address at her pediatric appointments.
Since our lil’ knee walker transitioned to foot, it was time to get her some big girl shoes! We have Stride Rite to thank for sending her the cutest pair of Ripley sneakers from their Soft Motion Juice Pack collection. Both of the boys went from booties to Stride Rite so it was only right (see what I did there?) for Kiki to do the same.
The Soft Motion Juice Pack brings five new thirst-quenching colors to the first-walker’s arena, but that’s not all… These kicks are changing the game with their rounded soles for improved balance and an ultra-flexible design to ensure little feet move naturally and go pro in a whole new look. I seriously wish they came in adult sizes!
We’re loving Miss Honey’s new pink grapefruit first-walkers. The kiwi’s are trying to jump into my cart as well! I’m trying to exercise some restraint, but I am just excited to celebrate this new milestone!
So mamas, at what age did your littles start walking? We all know eeeevery kid goes at their own pace, but I’m just curious. Also, what were their first big kid shoes?

Little miss is very cute my oldest who is now 15 walked at 10moths he actually never did the baby knee crawl he slithered across the floor like a snake and one day pulled himself up and started walking. My youngest now 6 walked at 9months very early walkers and I wasn't expecting it so I wasn't ready house proofing wise.

It's really important to have the right shoes for your baby especially when they're at that stage when they're trying to walk on their own! The shoes are really lovely! And they look comfy as well.

Ha! Look at her go!! I don't remember the exact ages when my four walked. For me it was potty training for the 4th that was the big big deal, so that's what I remember. He took longer than the others, he was scared of the potty, lol. Those are some good looking kicks. All of my kids have been in Stride Rite!
