Lucky Gratitude Pot o’ Gold

luckypotogoldpin

St. Patrick’s Day is next week. It’s normally a holiday we skip over although I love all things gold and rainbow themed. Walmart challenged me to come up with a craft for St. Patrick’s Day and I’m so glad that I did. It was a craft that I had a lot of fun designing (get the template here) and making with Jayden.

I designed a cute pot of gold with a teachable twist. St. Patrick’s day focuses on luck and good fortune, so I decided to turn this into a lesson on gratitude. I asked Jayden about some of the things that he’s lucky to have. Some of his answers included baby (Jaxon), Facetime (with Nana), tea, parties, and his Kindle. I had him write those things down on the gold coins used to fill up his lucky pot.

Materials

3 sheets of construction paper (black, green, yellow)
Scissors
Glue stick
Pencil
Project template provided

Instructions

Print out the Lucky Pot o’ Gold template that I designed. Turn it into a stencil by carefully cutting out the coin, pot, and clover.

Trace at least 9 circles on yellow construction paper, 1 clover on the green contruction paper, and 1 pot on black construction paper.

Have your child write 1 thing that makes them lucky inside of each of the gold coins. Cut everything out. Glue the clover on to the pot. Glue each coin to the brim of the pot, making sure the words are visible. And there you have it!
