Make Outdoor Cleanup Almost Effortless With These Tips

When you own a home, there is always work to be done. If you are lucky enough to have a yard, the to-do list becomes even longer. That is okay, though, because you can make the cleanup process of your outdoor area easier than ever before by implementing these quick tips.

Use the Power of Wind

Avoid the potentially backbreaking and time-consuming task of raking up leaves as autumn approaches and leaves begin to fall. Instead, look for one of the best leaf blowers to make lawn care easier. With a leaf blower in your hands, you no longer need to dread the task of their removal. You can effortlessly eliminate unwanted debris to maintain a clean yard.

The same goes for grass clippings. Regardless of whether you bag or mulch the grass as you mow the lawn, there will inevitably be grass left on the driveway, sidewalks, and amongst the cracks and crevices where the lawn meets the walkways. To make your outdoor cleanup even more efficient, consider implementing driveway edging ideas that not only enhance the look of your space but also help prevent clippings and debris from spilling onto your hardscapes. When you use your leaf blower,
you can quickly and easily clean these areas before the grass begins to yellow, harden, and become stuck in places you’d rather keep pristine.

Embrace the Tarp

If there is one thing that everyone should own, it is a tarp. This versatile piece of plastic material can almost literally cover all your outdoor needs. From covering things exposed to the elements to using them to transport objects, they are helpful to have around.

Tarps shine when it comes to cleanup. Lay one on the ground near where you are using your new leafblower. Strategically blow the leaves and debris directly onto the tarp. Once it is full, gather the four corners of the tarp and empty the contents into a mulch or compost bin or take it to the recycling center.

Alternatively, you can use an old sheet for the same purpose. Lay the sheet in your yard or under a woodworking area to capture dust and wood shavings. Just as with the tarp, use a leaf blower to push materials onto the sheet wherever you need to clean up.

Clean as You Go

It might seem easier and make more sense to keep a pile of broken or unwanted items in a stack behind the garage or at the back of your property. That mess can be just the home that rodents or bugs find inviting, and you do not want that. If you can, clean up debris, broken equipment, and garbage as soon as you see it. Adopt the one touch rule and deal with everything immediately to reduce your workload later on.

The only caveat is if you have a special clean-up week in your community. If you are lucky enough to have a special clean-up week, carefully stack unwanted items that are too large to fit in your weekly trash pick-up bin. Put the date on your calendar and bring everything out to the curb a day or so ahead of the designated pick-up date to ensure your items are ready to go and you can get them cleared out without storing them for another year.
