Our Clarifye Eye Exam Experience

This post is sponsored by Lenscrafters. Thanks for reading!

I haven’t had an eye exam or purchased a pair of glasses in five years. Five years, is that even a long time? It sure feels awfully negligent of myself, but it is the norm for me. Glasses are expensive, yo! Especially when your prescription calls for hi-index lenses, but they still look like cola bottles because severe Myopia. Commiserate with me, folks.

Two years ago, I found myself in need of a stronger prescription and the pair of glasses that I had were looking a little homely. Despite the struggle specs, I put off replacing them. By this year, a great deal of the temples had faded, my lenses were scratched, and about 50% of the coating was gone. Each time I handled my glasses was a true oh no baby moment. What was I doing?

Then Lenscrafters reached out to me and invited Jayden and I to experience their new Clarifye exam. I must have manifested that, because it. was. time.

Clarifye is the latest generation of digital vision technology; a new digital eye exam at Lenscrafters that gathers five times more information about your vision and it’s fast. It maps the curvature of your cornea to give your doctor a digital fingerprint of your eye. For children, it eliminates the guesswork and alleviates stress from wanting to correctly answer so many questions. Clarifye lets parents see a side-by-side simulation of how their child is seeing now, and how their vision will look once corrected, all on an iPad.

During our eye exams, I was able to view this neat feature and get a glimpse of our eye health. All was great in that regard. I’m still obviously very nearsighted. My prescription didn’t change much and my eyes are otherwise in good health. Jayden’s eyes are very healthy as well. He has slight astigmatism, but not enough to where he’d need a prescription. That’s awesome news because I started wearing glasses at the age of five and his eyes are unaffected at nine.

Back to School Eye Exams Are Important!

One in four kids has an undetected vision problem. Undetected vision issues lead to learning problems. Poor vision can also lead to low confidence in school and sports. It’s important for children to have a regular eye exam during the back-to-school season to ensure a successful year.

7 SIGNS YOUR CHILD MAY NEED GLASSES

Falling Grades
Frequent Squinting
Sitting Closer to TV
Sensitivity to Light
Short Attention Span
Trouble in Sports
Avoiding Usual Activities

⚠️ If you notice any of the signs above, it may be time to have your child’s eyes examined.

After our exams, it was time to pick out frames. Although Jayden didn’t need glasses just yet, he tried on frames anyway and looks absolutely darling in a pair of Oakley frames he really liked. I set out on quest to find the perfect frames for myself and boy was there a lot of them! Frames on frames on frames!

Since I’m so nearsighted, I had to use my phone to take photos in each frame, then view them with my glasses on. I tried on at least ten frames with the intent of trying something new. I wanted to try the cat eye look or an all clear or partially clear pair. I reeeally wanted a new look so I picked up so many frames and even went back to a few contenders. What did I decide? Well, my Plain Jane self fell in love with a pair similar to what I already had. Stop laughing. The shape and size is similar and only about a centimeter larger in width and height. I have a small face so I felt like most of what I tried on were too overbearing. Now that I look at the photos that I took with my phone, I feel like maaybe I could get away with some of the looks. What do you all think?

The frames that I chose are by Burberry and have the tortoise pattern that absolutely love. I have a watch in the same pattern that I’ve been meaning to have adjusted. Maybe I’ll do that next. I opted for Blue IQ Lenses since I spend so much time staring at my laptop and phone. I often deal with eye strain and headaches so when I saw the Blue IQ  display, I knew that I needed it.

My new specs came in a hard-shelled case with a cleaning cloth and now I’m feeling kinda fancy. More importantly, I can see much more clearly now! Huge thanks to Lenscrafters and the Schererville, IN team for getting us all squared away! Their one-year warranty is amazing btw and covers accidental damage from handling and protection from normal wear and tear. Paying extra for this coverage was a no-brainer.

Depending on your age and risk factors, it’s recommended that you have a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years. Our doctor wants to see us back in a year. How often do you get an eye exam and a new pair of glasses? Don’t wait five years like I did!

Beautiful frames! I haven't heard of this new technology but it sounds really cool. I'm due for my annual exam so maybe I should look into it!
