A New Season For Family Time

This post is sponsored by Juicy Juice. Thanks for reading!

Look, it’s a post featuring all of my not-so-tiny humans! It’s been a while since I’ve shared them all together. Let’s call this a mini family update.

Baby Akilah had her first surgery on the 4th, Jayden turned NINE on the 26th, and Juicy will be starting an enrichment program soon. Things have been chaotic and draining to say the least. I’m trying to stay on top of household upkeep, get my health together, map out a game plan with the store, and other things. But lately, I’ve honestly been too mentally exhausted to do anything that requires thinking.

Oftentimes, I’m running on fumes. Balancing babies and business ain’t for the faint of heart. I’ll be relieved when I’m able to spend more quality time with them and less time shooing them away. It pains me to put this out there, but I know I’m not alone in this struggle.

With more parents working and building businesses today, time is at a premium. Most parents say they don’t get to spend enough quality time with their kids. A recent study conducted by Pew Research Center reported more than 56% of all working parents are struggling with the balancing act. Among working mothers with a college or post-graduate degree, 70% say it is difficult for them to balance work and family life.

As the weather warms up and the greenery comes back to life, we’re excited to start spending a lot of time outdoors as a family. We’re excited about new adventures and simply shooting the breeze. But I’m also cringing at the inevitable dilemmas that I’ll face while I’m out living. Usually, when I’m tending to home and trying to live, my work goes to caca and when I’m tending to work, my home and life goes to caca. It’s a never-ending tug of war and I can only keep trying.

Juicy Juice is helping families spend more time together with their 100% Family Time celebration of family time moments. They’ve partnered with expert, Meredith Sinclair, to provide families with helpful tips and resources all year long – like turning meal prep into family time and scheduling family playtime with fun, DIY crafts made using supplies found around the house. Sometimes we can overthink things and try a little too hard to make things special for our children when they really just want our time and the simple things. Juicy Juice is helping us all bring family time back to the forefront.

We usually kick off our spring activities with an egg hunt. We take the kids to a big Eggstravaganza, but this year the organization decided to have something smaller and more intimate for children with special needs. I love that they decided to this for the kids who struggle with the noise, crowd, and mobility. The regular event is a bit much and I honestly wasn’t looking forward to trekking it this year. I was tired (so tired of saying “I’m tired”) and set on prepping for Akilah’s surgery anyway. So after her surgery, we improvised.

We hit the post-Easter shelves to grab treats for the kids and had a little egg hunt at the park. This was baby Akilah’s very first egg hunt, so she had a fabulous time exercising her independence. When we returned home, Daddy hid eggs around the house for an even bigger challenge for the boys. Juicy spent the rest of the night hiding eggs for Jayden to find. And Miss Honey got a kick out of hiding her eggs in the play kitchen, too.

It doesn’t matter how or when you create family moments, only that they are moments created.

How do you find the fun amid busy schedules?

Family time is more important than anything. It's what helps the family bond and remain strong.

I love when it gets warm out and you can get outside with the family. They are all so adorable! Juicy Juice is a staple in my fridge for when kids come over

I cannot find my balance and my oldest is 21 years old! Being a Mom is the hardest unpaid job on earth. Your children are beautiful, enjoy these moments, they grow up way too fast!

It's nice to be able to spend time with the family as much as you can. So long as you're doing your best to balance everything, that's fine.

Your little ones are so cute. We were going to do a post-Easter Egg Hunt with the kids but the weather got funky on us. I still plan to do one for them this month. hahahahaha Like you said it doesn't matter how you make memories with the family just make them.
