Usually towards the end of the year, I get antsy feelings of wanting to do something with myself. So in true Sheena fashion, I started the new year by dying my hair. Nothing drastic, but more of a refresh. I have grown to love my magenta locs. I consider them to be a signature look and am done dying over them to “play it safe” and “fit in” certain situations. I am so over that!
Before Olia / Fading Magenta Locs
Just in time for my much needed hair refresh, I was offered the opportunity to try Garnier’s new Olia permanent hair color. As a Garnier fanatic of 7 years, I couldn’t wait to try Olia. I’ve been wearing my hair natural for 7 years now and through all of the product trial & error (that most naturals go through), Garnier has never let me or my pocket book down.
Let’s pause for a little product knowledge.
Garnier Olia hair color is the first-ever oil blend technology for at-home hair color users. It contains a 60% oil blend, with natural flower oils providing maximum color performance and 100% Gray Coverage. Garnier Olia improves and restores hair with no ammonia and lifts up to 3 levels. As a natural with locs, this means less damage and more pampering for my hair. Since I have ridiculously sensitive skin, I don’t have to worry about itching or possibly breaking out from any strong chemicals. I also don’t have to shun Jayden from the bathroom when I’m coloring my hair. Garnier Olia smells like floral goodness!
The applicator bottles make it easy to mix the developer and colorant. I love the look, they are practical and aesthetically pleasing.
Coloring Hair With Olia’s Light Intense Auburn
I used both boxes because I have alooooot of hair. Sidenote: My hair has never been this long (down my back) and healthy. I love it so. I had a little extra color left, so I applied it all over my head. Since I have black dye in my hair, the light auburn appears to highlight the darker areas, which is fine, but look at the life brought back into the magenta locs! Sweeeet!
After Olia
I love the melody of colors! Garnier Olia is now my go-to hair color. It’s gentle, smells wonderful, leaves my hair soft, and provides such a rich color. I am truly satisfied with yet another hit from Garnier!

Hi, I just stumbled upon your blog after searching Google about WalMart Marketside products, and I love your blog! I wanted to ask you about your locs. How many do you have, and how often do you retwist? I just started mine on July 6th and am anxiously waiting for them to loc up and grow :)

Your hair looks beautiful and the color isn't too bright. It's a nice deep red. I have a couple of questions, 1) I am Natural and I want to use this particular brand and color system, Will this system change the texture of my hair. It's coily springy and has moisture(just began retaining moisture more)?
2) What's the color lifting agents? And will this affect my Henna? And will my hair show as bright as yours if my hair is a dark brown?
Thank you for this review, I am pretty much sol on going to buy it today!!

You have just put my mind to rest. I signed up on the bzzagent campaign for Garnier Olia and I was searching the web to see results on African American Hair...low and behold...another sister with locks!!! I'm dying mine this weekend and I'll be thrilled if the color is half as good as yours!!! Thank you for sharing!!!

If you were to dye your hair pink, green, and white, it'd still look amazing on you!
I love the color.
