If you have a cat, you’ll inevitably want what’s best for them. Your pets become your family and it’s also your responsibility to provide them with everything that they need, as they’re dependent on you! Now, there are all sorts of bits and pieces that you can buy for your cat to make their lives more comfortable and enjoyable. But for now, let’s take a moment to look at the few options below!
A Bed
Every cat should have a bed. This gives them a comfortable place to call their own when they sleep. There are a variety of different beds on the market. Check out this Banana Cat Bed as a fun example!
A Carrier
A cat carrier is essential for any cat owner. Sure, you may not use it on a regular basis. But you will need one if your cat needs to visit the vet, or if you’re traveling somewhere with your cat (for example, moving home). Consider the following factors when choosing a cat carrier:
- Ventilation – your cat needs to be able to breathe freely when inside their carrier. Choose an option that has openings on at least two of its sides.
- The Opening – there are a number of different types of openings when it comes to cat carriers. Choose a carrier with a top opening that allows you to lower your cat in from above. This makes life a lot easier for you. You may want one that also has a side door that your cat can walk in and out of of their own accord.
- Size – there are a variety of cat carrier sizes, ranging from small to large. You should make sure that your carrier is big enough for your cat to lie down and change their position regularly. It shouldn’t be big enough for them to roam around in though.
A Toothbrush
Now, this one may seem odd. Many people will question who actually cleans their cat’s teeth. But for the sake of their dental health, investing in a cat toothbrush and cat toothpaste is a really good idea! Given the average cat’s life expectancy is up to 16 years, you’re going to want to make sure that their teeth last their entire lifetime without causing pain or without your cat experiencing tooth loss. Sure, cats can survive without teeth, but having them makes their lives much easier. Just like human teeth, cats’ teeth build up plaque, which can ultimately lead to decay and gum disease. Using a toothbrush can minimize this. If you’re unsure how to clean your cat’s teeth, ask your vet to give you a demonstration. They’ll show you how it’s done. You may also want to ease your cat into the process by introducing them to their flavored toothpaste on your finger as a treat. Then, you can slowly ease them into brushing.
These are just a few suggestions when it comes to buying bits and pieces for your cat. Hopefully, some of the information will help you to make the best choices possible!
