Now that we’re in our new place, I’m finding new and creative ways to make it ours. At our old place, we organized the toys in a toybox and bookcase, but we are now using the bookcase in our bedroom. I’ve always wanted to decorate with cubes, so moving into a new place opened up the opportunity to do so.
I partnered up with Sauder in creating a fun little playspace for the boys. When logging on the Sauder website, I headed straight to the shelves and organization section and found the storage organizer to be the perfect solution to organizing and displaying their toys in our living room. I went ahead and grabbed two of the organizers; one for the playspace and another for something else I’ll be sharing in the upcoming months. So I placed my order and BAM, I had my organizers the next day. I was so confused because… holy fastasticness.
The organizers arrived in boxes, protected with guards that were sealed in plastic. I was impressed by the speedy delivery and thorough packaging. Now for those not familiar with Sauder furniture, be prepared to have Netflix ready because you will need something to entertain you through assembly. After an episode of Catfish and Braxton Family Values, I had assembled a storage organizer. I decided to line the back of four of the cubbies with fabric for an additional splash of color. I just measured and cut the fabric and Mod Podged them on. So… the middle shelves are a liiiittle off. User error? No biggie.
I chose to use a few of our adorable shark storage bins and display some favorite toys. I was going for modern and mature meets playful, so I spruced things up with a rag rug, succulents, printables (one / two), and some geometric artwork I created.
Setting Up a Playspace in Any Room
1. Organize and display toys with storage cubes and bins (or baskets).
2. Play with fabrics and textiles.
3. Display personal artwork and prints.
I’m so pleased with the Sauder storage organizer and how everything came together. It’s amazing how something so simple can look so great. In the upcoming months, I will be showing how to style the storage organizer a little differently for adult trinkets and things. Stay tuned!
