Shea Moisture Products, Now At Walmart!

When it comes to hair care products, I am pretty brand loyal and maybe downright obsessed. I’ll try a new product here and there, but I will always default to my favorites. In the 7 years of my natural hair journey, I have found that less is more. Less products, less ingredients, less in price. This is the advice that I give all people in search of products to maintain natural, un-relaxed hair. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype and before you know it, you’re stuck with products that you no longer use and a lust for the finest juices and berries that cost a fortune. When I started my natural hair journey, I was a broke student, and now, I have a budget to maintain. I don’t know about you, but being a hair product junkie is on the list of things I ain’t got time for.

When I find products that I love, I stick with them. Shea Moisture is a brand that I just can’t get enough of. They are made with the purest ingredients* at an affordable price point. I fell in love with their Coconut & Hibiscus line a few years ago and continue to use the line in Jayden and now Jaxon’s hair. Since my initial purchase (I always take advantage of their BOGO deals), Shea Moisture has expanded from hair care to bath and baby lines… which means that I’ll be gladly giving them more of my money, hahaha. The icing on the cake? They’re now being sold in Walmart stores! As a Walmart Mom, I had to opportunity to sample some of Shea Moisture’s products. We were sent a care package full of so many goodies, allowing us all to feel pampered. So I don’t have to keep saying it… EVERYTHING smells amazing. They are definitely mood boosters. Here’s what we got:

Shea Moisture Hair

For the hair, we received products from the Coconut & Hibiscus line which is best used on curly and coily textured natural hair. I’d already been a fan of this line as I’ve used it in Jayden’s hair before locking it. The Curl Enhancing Smoothie is probably the most raved about product. It’s a great moisturizer for hair that soaks up moisture and tends to always be dry. It’s a rich cream that defines curls for a great texture. The Curl & Style Milk, to me, is a lighter version. It’s not as rich and works great as an everyday styling lotion. What I used to do is wash Jayden’s hair with Curl & Shine Shampoo (which lathers wonderfully) and style it with a generous amount of Curl Enhancing Smoothie. Then, throughout the week, I’d use the Curl & Style Milk as needed with a little Hold & Shine Moisture Mist. Now, I use the Hold & Shine Moisture Mist on his locs in the morning to “wake” them up a bit with a little moisture a shine.

Freshly twisted with Curling Gel Souffle

The Curling Gel Souffle was new to us and I quickly learned that a little goes a long way. I used this to retwist Jayden’s locs, it moisturized really well, but it was on the sticky side. Next time, I’ll probably work a little into his entire head while wet instead of applying the gel directly to each loc. The Frizz-Free Curl Mousse and Co Wash Conditioner were also products we tried for the first time. Since Jaxon’s hair is thin and wispy, I decided to incorporate these products into his hair routine. I like to co wash as much as possible to keep from stripping our hair with shampoo. The shampoo only comes out if we want a deep cleanse. It takes quite a bit of Co Wash Conditioner for a thicker head of hair, but it doesn’t take much in his hair. For this reason, I probably won’t continue to use it once his hair gets as long as Jayden’s. I’d go through it too quickly. I do recommend it for TWA’s (teeny weeny afros) though. After washing, I like to apply Curl & Shine leave-in conditioner to Jaxon’s hair. Throughout the week, I apply a little Frizz-Free Curl Mousse to wake up and defrizz his curls.

Shea Moisture Bath

For bath, we received products from the Lavender & Wild Orchid line; Bath, Body & Massage Oil, Bubble Bath & Body Wash, Hand & Body Scrub, Shea Butter Soap, and Body Butter. I considered these to be my treats, but of course I shared them with Jayden who needed to soak his feet and hands. The Hand & Body Scrub in particular worked great on his relentless dry patches. His hands and feet are really starting to soften up. I love the Shea Butter Soap. The bar is huge for the price. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean and moisturized. The Body Butter is lovely. It’s rich and creamy, perfect for a deep overnight moisturizing. Oh, we also received the African Black Soap Face & Body Bar, but I’m saving it for my mom.

Shea Moisture Baby

Last but not least… baby. We received an assortment of the Raw Shea Butter & Argan Oil and Red Tea & Babassu lines. The Raw Shea & Argan Oil line is my favorite since Jayden still has issues with dry skin and I’m all about preventative measures with Jaxon. Oh, the frankincense and myrrh scent is so yummy. The Eczema Therapy is a thick butter that melts when applied. I use this on Jayden’s hands and feet and on Jaxon’s cheeks for a little extra moisture. The Ointment is similar, but thinner in consistency. I rub this on Jaxon’s “goodies” if I notice any redness. Both Raw Shea and Red Tea lotions are thick and moisturizing. I even use them daily. Both Head-To-Toe Wash & Shampoo’s are great too. I love that they can be used all over. Oh, the Raw Shea Baby Oil. Love it too. I’ve never been into baby oil, but I find myself reaching for it after nightly baths.

They sound like great products. My hair is relaxed and now that the weather is changing, it gets dry really quick with the furnace on and all. I will have to check out what they have @ Walmart. Thanks for the tip!! PS: If that Jaxon gets any cuter......
