Spaghetti Night happens at least twice a month in our household and it’s always a hit. Now, when it comes to spaghetti, I’m a throw it all in the same pot kind of girl. That’s how I grew up making it, but by dining out and doing a little culinary research, I’ve discovered a new way to enjoy the Italian inspired comfort food. I recently started serving my sauce on top of the pasta and found it to be much more enjoyable that way.
When it comes to the sauce, I’ll admit that I am lazy and I use store bought. One of these days, I’ll perfect a marinara and can a good supply of my own. But for now, good ‘ol sauce in a jar is where it’s at. I’ve been trying to incorporate more organic options into our meals and Wild Oats has been my go-to brand for affordable organics. When I see the brand at Walmart, I grab it without flinching since the prices are great and the quality is exceptional.
Our most recent spaghetti meal was divine. Using Wild Oats staples as a base, we had a scrumptious dinner in no time. With the help of Wild Oats’ marinara sauce and spices, I created a mushroom meat sauce that I am pretty proud of! I was sure to write everything down because I just had to share the recipe. I hope you enjoy the recipe down below. Definitely check out Wild Oats the next time you’re in Walmart. They have some of everything!
- 1lb lean ground beef
- ¼ cup chopped onion
- ¼ cup chopped green pepper
- 1 (8 oz) package of sliced crimini mushrooms
- 1 (25 oz) jar of Wild Oats Marinara
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp crushed basil
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- Scallions
- Parsley
- In a medium-sized skillet, thoroughly cook ground beef, green peppers, and onions until the meat is brown and veggies are translucent. Drain any excess fat. Add mushrooms to the ground beef mixture and cook them up for a few minutes.
- In a dutch oven, add ground beef mixture, marinara and dry seasonings. Stir everything together and let simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve on top of penne pasta, topped with scallions and parley.
How often do you have Spaghetti Nights?
