The Major Different Door Types For Your Home

Owning your home is a fantastic feeling as it gives you security and it is your place to escape the world and unwind. However, when you own your own home you will want to place your own stamp on it and allow your personality to shine through.

In many cases, this is a balancing act. Your personal tastes must balance with the style of your home, what is practical, and what you can afford. This is perfectly summed up in your door. It’s the first thing anyone sees as they approach your home and the perfect way to introduce them to your style.

You’ll need to check out a quality door supplier, such as this Parkwood doors collection. However, before you head to the showroom or online, spend a moment thinking about the right type of door for your home.

Dutch Doors

These are often a popular choice for the back of the house as they allow you to keep children and even pets in, or out, of the house while still getting some fresh air in.

The Dutch door is split into two halves, top, and bottom. They can be opened independently of each other, creating a flexible and stylish finish. In most cases, the top half has glass in the door but it doesn’t have to

French Doors

French doors are another great option if you have a patio area. Again, these are frequently on the rear of the house but they can be situated anywhere. This type of door may be all glass or half glass and usually adopt a panel pattern. They are lockable from both sides, allowing you to step outside or use them as your main door.

They are also very effective at letting light into your home.

The Sliding Door

This is a similar option to French doors but tends to be a little cheaper and a little less secure. Again, they are generally on the back of the house and connect the house to a patio or terrace. These allow plenty of light into the house and make the space feel larger.

Solid Wood Doors

Solid wood doors are generally the most expensive option but they make fantastic front doors. They are solid, weather-resistant, and can be painted in almost any color you can think of. These doors come in a variety of styles. You can add glass or not, use a peephole, or have a pattern carved into the wood. Although not the cheapest option they give a classic look and make your home feel secure.

Roller Doors

These are generally fitted to garages but there is no reason why you couldn’t fit them into any opening in your home. They are secure, weatherproof, and generally available in a wide variety of colors. Even if you are just using them for your garage you can have the color match that of your house.

Naturally, there are also PVC and metal doors. These are generally very strong and look good on modern homes. You’ll want to check out some examples near you before making your final decision.
