What is CBD: Treating Anxiety with CBD AKA Cannabidiol

CBD (also known as cannabidiol) is all the rave right now. After much regulation, being a chemical compound of marijuana and hemp plants, CBD is now the new nutrient-rich cure-all ingredient found in a host of wellness and beauty products. CBD is a naturally occurring substance that contains 0.3% or less of the THC compound found in cannabis, meaning it is not psychoactive and will NOT get you high. CBD can help alleviate the symptoms of many ailments; pain, osteoporosis, cancer, acne and other skin issues, and most namely symptoms of anxiety.

Having dealt with anxiety most of my life and experiencing a surge during an extremely tough time in my life, I decided to try CBD oil as I was unable to get an appointment with a psychiatrist quick enough. I began purchasing CBD Oil tinctures to help me cope with the stress that came with my environment and it certainly took the edge off and helped keep me from being on the news for being a reckless beast. CBD was extremely important in treating my anxiety and I recommend it to you, friends, and here’s why.

Oh wait, a sidenote: I am not a medical professional, however, I go hard for mental health. Healing is an extensive process that involves research, consulting, medical treatment, and possible therapy. It’s an experiment which I know is a huge turn off for some, but you must get better. You deserve the peace of mind. This you are worthy of. Please use your own discretion when using alternative healing practices and products to make sure they work well for your body and don’t interact with any other treatment or medications you may be taking. You definitely have to advocate for yourself in this slippery space to find a solution that works best for you!

CBD Is Drug-Free

CBD is a drug-free botanical product. Anxiety is usually treated with pharmaceutical drugs, which can cause quite a bit of side effects including drowsiness, agitation, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, and headache. Moreover, medications like benzodiazepines can be habit-forming and may lead to substance abuse. These are drugs that require a gradual weaning process. They cannot be stopped cold turkey as there will be disruptive withdrawal symptoms. CBD is non-habit-forming and can be taken as needed. CBD does come with some side effects as well; diarrhea, fatigue, and change in appetite which is pretty mild in comparison to pharmaceuticals.

No Runaround With Dr. Offices

Dealing with doctor’s offices can be a headache especially those that specialize in mental health. In my experience, I’ve dealt with having to wait several months to be seen. Then before being prescribed anything, I had to complete paperwork in one appointment, then talk to an actual doctor at another appointment. After being put on a trial dose of meds, I was scheduled for a followup where I would discuss how I was feeling and receive a refill prescription. Wouldn’t you know, my doctor left the practice leaving me without a refill and having to wait months to see another doctor that would replace her?

I had to stop the medication abruptly and continue to call the office to see when I could make an appointment. After several months, I no longer needed the medication, so I stopped trying to get an appointment. When I needed emergency relief from my anxiety again, I turned to CBD oil because I had absolutely no time for the runaround. I asked around for recommendations and placed an order for a CBD oil tincture that would help keep the edge and physical pain of anxiety at bay.

CBD oil can be purchased from the convenience of your home, in many strengths and flavors. While under a tremendous amount of stress, I took CBD oil twice daily for relief. I’ve also taken CBD capsules in lower doses to help me woosah from the everyday of mothering, trying to reestablish my businesses, and rise up after having a not so great year. I will always advocate for mental health and healing, whatever that may look like for you. There’s no treatment above me, nor do I frown upon medication. Believe me you, I have witnessed the power of medication and therapy and how those tools help me, friends and family maintain and live healthy lives. CBD products are just an additional option I recommend looking into to manage not only anxiety but your overall health.
